Mate you could scribe the melody note to note. I remember you mentioning in your book on song writing that this is not the first time this has been done to you. There is a certain American band that is now off my listening list. Why not put words to some of their songs and see how far you get? ….Dixieland ‘Re-write’ or ‘You’ve Got The ‘Re-Touch’ …. perhaps. Don’t take this lying down otherwise it’ll be open slatter. Best of luck.
I dont hear it.. Are you the same Alan Caswell that claims the “Prisoner” theme was Ripped Off..I dont think Christmas in Dixie sounds like your song at All…I Would Like to Know when You filed the Law suit ? The Alabama Song came out in 1982, this is 2010..
An expert in the field ” A musicologist” commissioned by Alabama’s publisher, states that both tunes are too much alike for this to be coincidental.
Sony make money from both songs, so they decided to keep quiet about it and hide the report….
I personally do not think that this is good practice and shows a definite conflict of interest.
Songwriters are lucky if they have one hit song in their lifetime, to have someone copy it and use it, is neither ” fair nor moral”
So when did you become tone deaf, Dawn? Just wondering…
I do wish people did their homework & research before commenting. *sigh*
As a great German playwright once wrote “There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action”.
I am behind you 100% Allan. The Bastards STOLE your song !!
Shame SONY shame!
Shame Alabama shame!
You don’t need to be a musicologist to hear it, and it’s even more obvious when you compare the version of Inside sung by Allan as opposed to Lyn’s. Male voice v male voice even Dawn would have to hear it then.
I wish I could offer more than words to help you fight the big wigs Al, the bastards pinched your song, and Sony let them do it- no doubt!
As a fellow songwriter and J.P. I have no hesitation is saying that Allan Caswell is the legal owner of the melody line of BOTH songs. Admit it Sony and give Allan what he is entitled to and is rightfully his
very very obvious that its been stolen right off. and makes me angry. loved the show AND the song. hope this comes to an end soon. with justice!
